The Great Easter Egg Hunt

This Easter my parents organized the biggest Easter Egg Hunt I have ever been on. They even staged fake trails in the snow so we couldn't see where they had been! And in typical family events, the competition left their marks on a few. (For those of you who have never experienced a Nicholls family games' day, I can describe it to you as cut throat and nerve racking. Everyone's heart is racing, the thrill of getting the competitive edge over another family member is almost too much. )

It started with the making of the teams. We each had to pair-up with a younger family member. Now, of course I was paired with Jake, but in true Nicholls fashion my immediate thought was "Oh no! I'm definitely going to lose now!" Even though a normal Mother's response would have been filled with pure joy at being able to see every minute of her son's first egg hunt. But of course my parents had a plan for that.... They sent my sister and cousin Kate (team 1) with My Aunt Sherry and Cousin Abbey (team 2) out one way, and sent Jake and I the other way to get the low lying, obvious, hidden just for Jake ones. Of course my inside voice was yelling "Suckers"!

Jake and I had a blast and everytime he found an egg he seemed so please with himself, even if I had to point them out first. He had so much fun. The pictures say it all really. Especially that last one!

It wasn't all roses though! There was some cheating going on between the other two teams. Some lying about how many eggs they had, some stealing of eggs from each others baskets. And my Aunt was pushed into a muddy ditch by one of her own daughters. But that is typical for us, really!

As for who won? Well Jake and I didn't win, but after-all it wasn't about winning... Jake can't eat all that chocolate anyways...

Awww, so cute, and hysterical! I can't wait to be able to do that stull with Lilianna, well maybe not the lying and cheating part :)

hey Cuz - If I had been there - I would've whooped "Auntie" Sherri's butt! We all know were that Nicholls competitive streak begins; it is with that sly-Nicholls-youngest one!! I think it all comes from being the youngest in the family and the only one she could usually beat (and torment) was her oldest niece! ME! Sounds like it was fun - by the way - did you find any old Nicholls-Picnic clues from picnics past???
