Day 9 - A bug

For the past month we've been taking care of Jake as he caught 1 virus after another after another. It started with a funny cough and a high fever which we determined that it was Croup. He was good and sick for the better part of a week. And just when we thought he was getting better, he seemed to get the stomach flu. He recovered quickly from that only within days of being back at day care he came home with pink eye. Then came another bad cold with a high fever and horrible cough. At this point I was desperately trying to get his doctor office to take him for an appointment rather than me wasting an Emergency Doctor's time with a virus. And I was having no luck as our doctor seemed to be triple booked every time I called. When he got yet another bout of stomach flu. 6 hours of waiting in emergency only to find out, as I suspected that it's a virus and nothing anyone can do about it except let it run it's course.
I managed to get an appointment for 2 weeks out and took him in yesterday (Thursday). The doctor examined him and assured me that he looks like he is on the mend. He did comment though on how skinny and pale he was. So he sent the poor little guy for blood work. To see if maybe his iron levels are too low. Poor guy took it like a champ. He'll think twice about sitting in that nurse's chair again though.
Jake really does seem like he is finally on the mend and hopefully it'll be an easy fix of getting him some more iron. I should take this opportunity to thank the Grandma's of saving my butt and taking him for a few days each so I could go back to work. Big shout out. Don't know what I would do without you.
