Nicholls Family Reunion

Pic: A cool morning with a cute hat!

My worry about the long drive was unfounded. Jake did great. He really slept most of the time. Only having to stop twice on the way up, and once on the way home.

What a great place to have the reunion. It was beautiful; Hot during the day and cool(very cold) at night. But with the furnace in the trailer, we didn't notice the cold, at least not the second night. Once we convinced my dad to turn up the heat. Jake was a little out of sorts the first night. I figure it was due to the fact that he slept almost the whole way up. And then on top of that he was not used to sleeping in the same bed as Josh and I. But he was great during the day. A little tiny bit cranky as he was passed around a lot. But way better than I expected him to be.

The second night, I put him down a littler earlier, and I took a nap expecting to have a rough night ahead. Him and I both slept through fireworks. We got up at 10:30pm and I fed him, and he was a little resless so I put him in his front carrier, wrapped him in some warm blankets and we ventured out to hear the band. ( My cousin Al's band played, they were really great and they got many family members to sing. It was like live kareoke. It was really great!) Jake got mesmerized by the fire and we danced together until he fell asleep. I put him to bed in the bassinet we had set up in the trailer and "poof" he slept until 5:30 AM the next morning. I fed him and he still went down until 8:30AM so the rest of the camp could sleep in a little. ONLY A LITTLE THOUGH. He made sure everyone was awake after that!

Once we got home, I decided that although he's still a little young, Jake might be ready to somewhat sleep through the night. So I made a deal with him. If he wakes up in the middle of the night, I'll pick him up only after he cries for 5 minutes. He lasted about 2 minutes last night and fell back asleep. So he made it until 5:30am. That was good enough for me. He got rewarded with and extra big breakfast from mom. I think I'll continue with this game.

Great pic. He is getting to look so grownup. By the sound of it, he is definitely going to be camper.
